A SCUBA Pioneer
I only knew John a very short time and actually only met him twice. The first time was at Our World Underwater and the second was at the shop he loved so much. The first time I met him he was looking good, feeling great with nothing on his mind but moving his shop forward and improve the training he offered.
The next visit, John and his lovely wife were on the last day of the closing up sale. John and I had a very good conversation even though he was extremely tired from being sick and from his treatments. We talked about many things but the biggest thing was how he planned to set up shop after he got well on a smaller scale. All the time we talked, I just could not get off my mind that I was in the presence of a Pioneer and I was afraid that I would not get the chance to set with him again and talk diving.

happy fathers day!
people always advise, “find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” SCUBA was the adventure you followed and you never tired of it. till your last day, you loved your work. even planning a new class and a dive trip to the philippines from your hospital bed! few people know that level of fulfillment in their life. i am happy to think you’re now diving with jacques costeau. love you daddy. happy fathers day.

John really made our Shipwreck Camp here at Case Western Reserve University special by providing Discover SCUBA to the 12-15 year olds in our camps. It was an adventure none of these kids will ever forget. John will be sorely missed by so many. It was good to hear that he did what he loved! My deepest condolences to the immediate family and to all of John’s extended dive family.

You will be dearly missed. One of the best of the best. There was never a doubt if you were trained by John Norris for scuba diving, you were a skilled diver. A kind hearted man. I am glad to have known him. May the lord above hold him in his arms always. May time and love heal the family hearts. His spirit is always with you. Sherrie McCants

My Condolences
I’ve had the great fortune to have met and talked with John on several occasions over the years - mostly about the technical aspects of diving equipment, a topic close to both our hearts. I’m sad to hear this news; my thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family. Rest in peace my friend.
